PV heater control system is ready now
IAMMETER has introduced a "PV Heater Control System" designed to optimize the use of solar energy for heating, thereby reducing electricity bills. This system ensures that heaters, such as tank water heaters, are powered entirely by solar energy, increasing the self-consumption rate of photovoltaic (PV) systems.

After
Key Features:
Real-Time Monitoring: The system utilizes an IAMMETER energy meter to continuously monitor grid power.
Dynamic Power Adjustment: A Wi-Fi power controller adjusts the heater's power output based on real-time grid power data. When excess solar energy is available, the controller increases the heater's power input; conversely, it reduces power input when drawing electricity from the grid.
Benefits:
- Cost Savings: By maximizing the use of solar energy for heating, users can significantly reduce electricity expenses. For instance, a user with a tank water boiler consuming 10 kWh daily, previously powered 50% by solar energy, can achieve full solar-powered heating with this system. Assuming a feed-in tariff of 0.05 AUD/kWh and a grid electricity price of 0.25 AUD/kWh, the system can save up to 1 AUD per day.
- Increased Self-Consumption: The system enhances the self-consumption rate of PV systems, making them more efficient and cost-effective.
This solution is particularly beneficial for users with solar PV generation, resistive loads like tank water heaters, and a low self-consumption rate, especially when the feed-in tariff is significantly lower than the electricity price.
